I ran by BPS to pick up some supplies and while there I had them remove some serving and add string leeches. Well, I get home to inspect the bow and I see this little poof of fiber. Upon closer inspection it looks like it was nicked when they used a razor blade to remove the serving. Fibers are poofing on both sides and it looks like it is where the serving had ended. Is this an issue? I hope I don't have to replace the strings anytime soon.

Screw it. I couldn't make it out to Dickson Sportsman to simply have some string leeches put on, so I went in to BPS. Well, he poked that blade clean through the string cause there are fibers coming out both ends. I ran my fingers over that spot a few times and it has poofed out on both sides. I noticed he was waxing the string on that spot when I was standing there talking to him. He knew what he did. I give up. This sucks cause I don't want to stand over someone while they work, but I wish I had gone to Dickson. I am calling Dickson tommorrow to see if they have some strings in stock. BPS has some cheap strings behind the counter, so I am not going to waste my time. All I want to do is get some work done, not get screwed.

From personal experience - you don't want to be at 3/4 draw when that string lets go!!! Ouch !!!

Just don't replace it with a Zebra string . They creep like crazy . I would replace it with a string made of 452X like Winner's Choice or Vapor Trail . It has less creep ,and will be easier to keep the peep aligned and the bow in spec.

I would put a new Bucknasty string & cable on it, made out of 452x like Radar said.

Oh well , live and learn . Dickson Sportsman's Store will take care of you . See if they can order you a Winner's Choice string or similar string made of 452X fiber . It's worth the extra money .

UTGrad, atleast your learning. Not sure, but to me it doesn't look that bad. I have seen the same thing on some of my bows and I didn't worry about it. If you are interested you can stop by my work and I can look at it for you. Of course I won't raz you on your recent "rookie" decisions. Good luck!

That is what I thought too. From your pics, I think the string is fine. I would simply stop sweating the small stuff and have some fun shooting.

I agree with what the others said . Some fraying is okay . As long as it didn't cut completely trough several strands , it should be okay .
Just enjoy archery .

I have the Zebra, Barracuda string on my bow. Zero stretch so far, been shooting the bow almost every day since since Nov.

They do stretch more than a 452X , I have had a couple of them on my Mathews bows . For the same money , it's worth going to a better string .

I have never had my Drenalin re-strung.
I'm confused, What is the best for this bow.

I have 60# limbs.

I would change that string. I too like WC or Vapor Trail strings. There are also a number of good string makers out there. You can find most of them on archerytalk. The advantage of going to a pro shop like DSS is that they can install the string for you. Don't get a cheep string. Tell the pro shop your bows specs and they can order you a custom string from WC or Vapor. After they put it on your bow should be in spec. A good quality string will have very little if any creep or stretch even before break in period. Don't leave the store until your peep is aligned properly. If you go to Dickson and have the time you can shoot at the store and have them make peep adjustment if necessary.

Hate to hear your troubles.

Enjoy archery..
