We have a single shot 20 ga with a Mod barrel on it. It will accept 3" loads. Would this gun be able to kill a turkey at a reasonable distance? I am asking to see if my 11 yr daughter could use it and effectivly kill one if she has the shot.

You need to pattern it first and see what kind of pattern you get. Within 25 yards you should be ok . Maybe carry another gun in case she needs a back up shot.

If she can handle shooting the 3" 20 ga shell, It will kill a big tom at 20-25 yards just as dead as a 12ga could. And dont worry about taking a second gun because seldom will you get a second shot if you miss on the 1st shot. Learn where to shoot the turkey, and how your gun patterns at those distances, then pratice a little calling them in. you'll be fine.
