I'm new to the forum and haven't seen this ? posted...

Does Anyone think the price of a good bow is keeping more hunters from using them instead of guns?

It seems to me you can't buy anything worth shooting under $400 unless you get lucky.

then add all of the accessories and you're looking at a nice chunk of change. heck those alone seem like they can run you more than most muzzleloaders.

Does this stop new hunters from trying their hand at archery considering it is the most "priciest" but at the same time probably most challenging way to hunt

I don't think so. I know when I want to do something I do it. I may have to cut back on sodas, eating out for lunch and any other luxery but I will get what I want.

I think the price and complexity of equipment is a bit intimidating to newbies. I was for me when I got back into it 5yrs ago.

If somebody will take the time to research options and try lots of brands of bows, sights, etc. good deals can be had.

Where folks get hosed is by buying without enough diligence and realizing quickly they didn't buy well.

Not really . I think there are very good low to mid price bows out there for those just starting out or on a budget .
It's like any other hobby , if you enjoy it , it's worth the money .

There are plenty of used bows that will get the job done well under $400. Most of the fellas that spend the kind of money you're talking about are consumed with archery. I'm one of them.

If a man just wanted to purchase a bow and only the necessary equipment to harvest deer, I think he could do that for well under what a muzz and scope would cost.

Archery, like anything else, has become a popular pass time. Your choises are unlimited as are the prices. You can put together a bow with all the stuff needed for hunting for less that a good rifle costs easily. Then again you can get a good used car for what some bows cost.
Best thing to do is watch the archery classified and get a year old model someone is selling who just has to upgrade.

Has no effect at all. Only effects what they buy in terms of entry level equipment.

I'm like richmanbbq. If I want something, I buy it. But I never eat out at lunch. We usually eat out on Friday night. Only thing minus bills that I usually spend money on is gas and smokes.
