Would there be anyone interested in a one day tourney on Priest,Cheatam, or Old Hickory. Nothing too expensive, just get together for fun day of fishing. We could do a list of boaters and non-boaters and draw from there. Could be fun.
Whats yall's thoughts.
Thinking sometime in May would be good, all three lakes pretty good in May.
Give me some feed-back.

I'll be fishing our club tourny on Kentucky Lake the first weekend in May.

I'm game, but I may non-boat if we do it since I've never fished Cheatham, Priest or Hickory.

Do it in mid-Tn (excluding Cordell Hull) and I am in. I will provide boat and me and SCN will partner up.

Now how about a trout tourney on the Caney. $100 entry, big fish takes all. \:\)

Well you guys I think we should start at either Priest or Old Hick.
If we have a good turnout we could schedule one on Kentucky then one on loudon or Watts Bar.
Just shoot some numbers out of boaters and non-boaters, I figure if we can get 20 to 25 boats it would be worth the effort.

Also thinking no more than $50 a boat, try to make this reasonable as possible, maybe payout top three(depending on turnout) with a $10 big fish.

Pick a non-participant to just pick a lake and hold it there and whoever shows up fishes.
Just a thought.
I couldn't catch a fish with a dipnet in a bathtub so it sure don't matter to me. \:D

And , I personally am proud of my southern heritage, my dogs registered name is Jeb Stuart, and I have read several books on Nathan Forrest (incredible man) if by chance you havent read(which I assume you have) Bedford Forrest and his Critter Company by Andrew Lytle, and NBF Biography by Jack Hurst. I'm in and gonna non-boat this one depending on the date. I don't feel like towing the boat 3 hrs to a lake I've never been to. If we end up needing extra boaters, I suppose I could drag the ol' Bass Tracker with the monster 40 hp on the back, out of the garage.

Anybody feel sorry enough to have me for a partner? Lol!

Christmysavior, nothing at all wrong with those impoundments, just in May those lakes are moving towards night fishing, and during the day it seems that most succesful techniques require finnesse fishing, nothing wrong with this technique but it may limit the interest of some whom dont perfer light line and tackle.

I think to open the arrangement of techniques we should concentrate on a body of water such as Old Hickory, Cheatam, or Barkley. These bodies of water offer such different types of habitat, that a fisherman can choose, to finesse with drop-shot rigs, burn crank-baits over flats or power-fish flippin jigs in heavy cover.

My thoughts were that if the body of water offers more fishing techniques, than maybe more people might be interested. Caus we all know everyone has thier techniques that they enjoy fishing and have confidence in.

This is strictly for your information. Folks on the Chattanooga Fishing Forum website frequently arrange various informal "tournaments."

Rather than trying to reach a consensus online, it typically works best when one or two members simply say, "OK, we're doing a tournament (bass, crappie, shellcrackers, catfish or whatever) on this date at this location. Come if you wish." CFF calendar includes a way to "sign up" for an event.

Extra effort is made to make them low key, informal and fun.

Low entry fee (normally $25) with a 100% payout to top places, except when tournament is designated as a "benefit" for a particular charity. Payout goes way down so extra money goes to charity. Someone organized a "Toy For Tots" crappie tourney before Christmas and entry fee had to include a new toy.

One of the best is the annual Crackerfest (bluegill/shellcracker tourney) geared mainly toward kids. Picture below.

CFF has about 3,600 Registered member and the assorted "lurkers." Typically a tourney will draw ten to 25 boats. Of course they're dealing primarily with a smaller geographic area than TNDeer.

Of course some of the CFF'ers have organized an actual CFF Bass Trail this year... sort of taking it to the next level, but I'm sure some of the less formal events will continue as well.

But bottomline, it's usually going to be much simpler for someone to take the bull by the horns and say, "Here's the time, here's the place, here's the rules... hope you can come."

And if only two people show up, so be it.... the two of you will have fun.

Me & 7mm mag would probably join in on Old Hickory or Priest. We went to the one a couple of years ago that was setup for the charity event, but it turned nasty cold and a drizzle rain and only about 3 to 4 boats showed.

I can set one up for Watts Bar as long as it doesn't have to be limited to Tndeer.com members. I have found that restricting it to Tndeer only usually means you end up with one or two boats.

I can probably get 20-25 boats entered if I have enough time to promote it locally. (As long as no other large tournament is going on in the area I can probably get more.)

Winchester, when would be a good time for you? According to the CFF Tournament Calendar March 14-28th both look to be a little less packed than the other March Saturdays for Tourneys. Just about every Sunday is open in March except the 22nd which is a big one I plan to fish.

Tophat, If you will set one up for October I will drag my boat over to Barkley or Kentucky lake to fish it. Then I can hunt the lease as well when I am through. (You know first hand how far it is to drag a boat from here. \:D )

I start fishing my tournaments on April 10th so I will be tied up with them through August. I will post a separate post about this to avoid any further hijack.

I have asked permission to post an announcement thread and once I gain permission I will post it.

I was just yanking your chain. There is no animosity on what
was posted in another forum, just small differing opinion..

And you are right, both of those books are great reads.
I have them in my collection along with " as they saw Forrest"

And River run red, a northern view of Fort Pillow.

Will fish if it works with my schedule.
