How can you tell it's time to replace your string and/or cables? I notice my bow is getting a little harder to pull back and its not as smooth. I know it's not because I am getting older. My bow is still in tune. Probably shot about 300-400 arrows off the current sting.

What is the average string life?

300-400?

No where close to a new string. Draw weight will decrease with string stretch.

Check the factory ATA measurements and then measure yours. If yours is longer than you need a new string.

You dont need one with 400 shots on it though. Ive got over 1000 on mine. I need a new one.

Go out and shoot more.

Hey BB- thanks. I will check the measurments. I have a factory string on my Parker.

Yup 300-400. I don't shoot every day and when I do, I only shoot 10 arrows and make them the best 10 I shoot. This helps me to concentrate on good form all the way through. One time I shoot 10 yards and a few day later 20 then work out to 40 yards. I figure 10 good arrows is better then shooting 50 and only having 10 good ones.

Sometimes I climb a tree or shoot out of the second story window of my house as time gets closer to the season. Works for me.

As long as your string is not worn , it may be okay . A string can be twisted up to put the ATA back into spec . Just because it may creep does not mean it needs to be replaced . Some strings take over 100 shots just to settle in without creep .
