Id say make sure the motor starts, clean it up, drain the fuel, put a cover on it, and wait til march. Or thats my plans anyways. Tournaments dont start til then haha

Wintertime fishing is my favorite time to fish. No crowd, no jetskis, no ski boats, and the fishing is great. Just use your head and be prepared.

Thanks for the advice guys, I had it started with the garden hose attachment and it runs great  I will take extra caution before I head anywhere to make sure i have no leaks. I really want to try winter fishing because of the reasons TNlynn mentioned. Plan on heading out on PP on saturday mostly to learn the boat but i will be getting hooks wet to!

Try Old Hickory this time of year - Specifically above the 231 bridge. Fish the mouths of major creeks and look for deep holes - 45 ft or greater. Fish the slope into the hole the try the slope out of the hole. Fish 1 to 1 1/14 jigs tipped with tuffys or shiners. Red / white or Blue/ white combos on Cloudy days and Chartreuse and anything if sunny. Should net you plenty of Sauger and/or Walleye. Just down and around the curve from Taylor's landing usually has some nice fish.

Go to Dale Hollow and throw a FloatNFly or a jig. You may only catch a couple, but they will probably be some of the biggest smallies of your life.
