That ought to be about right for facing down a full blown charge from an enraged Tennessee doe.

Evidently that's a shortened 458 wildcat case shortened to 2 inches from 2.495 to fit the Model 7 short action. It's probably not really the same as a full-powered 458 but you still get the big bore. Just guessin'.

Good lookin' gun there.

What a coinki-dink... sold my 450 mar and two other barrels, just ordered a CZ in 458WM. I plan on loading it down to 450 mar or further to 458x2Am maybe.

You are right, you can't have too much but at the same time, there is something to be said for easing back a tad too After all... there are those Lott nutt-jobs... what freaks... are they over compensating or what?????

That's gonna hurt. No two ways around it. Get you some good 350 Gr. jacketed bullets or some 385 to 400 Gr. cast and push them about 1900 FPS. Your .270 can't even outperform a .458 load like that at the ranges we hunt.

Is that a custom barrel job? If so, who did the work?

WOW did Whelen Man moved on since 2008? I missed that somehow , but 2008 was when I was real sick up at the Nashville V.A. with blood poisoning .

45-70 re-barreled Nagant rifle. 325FTX 2200 fps with a 6 inch MPBR to 200 yards. Those .458 bullets leave a sloppy hole behind. Best of all, load the same bullets and powder in a Savage smokeless muzzle loader with same ballistics for MZ season
