Mike,
I work for DOT, I hope we dont get any snow this year either. Just a reminder our salt is treated with calcium chloride which is usually blue. So, if your best buck has a blue tongue, dont get alarmed, just know your salt lick is a success.

You should be able to pick up a trophy rock at coop ,( not all have them), for about $14.00.

We use the Trophy Rock from Saltman, it seems to be one of the best, at least our deer like it.

Trace mineral in bag and block form works great for me in a combination.

Trace mineral will work, and I have used it. I have started buying the more expensive salt I think its around 15 bucks for a 50lb bag. The reason I have started doing this is purely experimental. My cattle will eat the expensive salt in two weeks. The trace mineral it takes them a month and a half. Why? Trace mineral is mostly salt which all animals need, but the more expensive salt has a bigger percentage of other nutrients in the salt. Its called Trace mineral because it only has a trace of other nutrients that animals crave. Ill let you know how it goes.
