curious to see if there is a favorite brand & model without breaking the bank. the parker & excal w/ recurve limbs look good. don't you have to unstring those things during storage time ?

Excal - ExoMax which might be a little too much bow. If I had to do it over again I would probably go with the next bow down. It's more than enough firepower.

Excalibur Phoenix, love this X-bow. They do recommend taking string off during off season but it's really not very hard. They provide an instructional video. Retail's around $549.

Horton Legend 175#. My dad's been using one for 4 years (he's disabled). I've had mine 2 years and my son has had his for 2 years. We've never had any problems. Got mine scope and all for about $550.

I love my Excalibur Exocet 200. It is more accurate than I am and low maintenance, no cams.

thankyou everyone ! the excal website has a world of info about cb's. helps someone like me that has no knowledge about them, except for the stuff about fingers flying downrange.

I have two..
A TenPoint QX4 and an custom Excalibur Exomag.
I have hunted and killed deer and turkeys with both, but most the times now I am using the TenPoint.

I have an Excal Phoenix, very nice CB. Best thing u can do is to shoot every model that u think u would like. It won't take long and u will find things that u don't like on some and can put them aside. Things that matter are trigger and being comfortable while using it. Check out the scope mounting system if u plan on using one. How easy is it to cock? How fast do u want it to shoot. Best CB silencers are a pair of ear plugs! They are all loud but u keep deer within 30 yds. its a dead deer!

i think the phoenix model is the one i'll go with.this sucker is going on the Christmas list. i don't understand why the complete package(w/ scope) is more than the bare bow & buying the scope acc.package seperate . man, i sure appreciate all the input-THANKYOU. am commited to finishing the archery season w/ the pse compound, but this is something nice to look forward to. no more having to shoot right handed-when i'm a lefty.

I have a Horton Yukon 150. Shoots very well. I shot and lost a doe yesterday with it but it was not the bows fault. I simply shot high.

Excalibur Phoenix with a scope. I have three witnesses that saw me shoot an arrow four times into the same hole at 20 yards off a sandbag rest with this bow!!! I can't shoot that well but the bow can!

Barnett Revulation at 345 FPS its hard to catch and is very accurate. Now if I could just get a shot at a deer!

Barnett Wildcat, shot a deer with it but hit it in shoulder and didnt bleed near what i needed it to, lost her, but its very accurate now that i got it back from shootin right, just need one to get within 50!

Excalibur Exocet 200 - nicknamed Exozactly - cause it hits exactly where the crosshairs are when the trigger is pulled. Love this crossbow - just didn't use it much this year cause I was too busy at work to get out much during archery season. Might take it to LBL before they close.

I have the Tenpoint QX4 and its awesome,
I added the steddy eddy and it really does steddy your shot on the ground or in a tree stand.

I now have the Exocet 200 ! Friend of mine bought it brand new about 2 months ago. Then he said he would rather have the Phoenix cause it was easier to cock and shorter rail, he is 6 1/2"'s shorter than i am. So i up and traded him. I am going to get the Vixen fer my Mrs. shortly! Excals is there any thing else!
