So for my birthday last year my wife placed me on a waiting list with Big Jim’s Bow Company. Well after an 11 month wait my object of affection has arrived…and my oh my it didn’t disappoint! I spoke with Jim for about an hour when placing my order. I wanted this bow to have the feel of Appalachia as my first 25 years were spent in the Blue Ridge area of Ga at the foothills. In order to give this essence to the bow Jim and I decided to use curly maple stained in tobacco brown because it reminded us of the old flintlock rifles the mountain men carried. In addition to the maple we have hickory in the riser for a traditional look. Finally I had the beaver tail wrap added to the grip and insert on my quiver. What I didn’t anticipate is the turquoise/brown string that he made. It’s such a perfect final touch that accents all the other aspects of this artwork! I honestly don’t think the pictures do this bow justice. It is amazing! My plan is to harvest a P&Y class buck with it and then hang it on the wall until it’s passed to my son. Big Jim Thunderchild 56” 50# @ 28”
