Favorite restaurant....

Postby redblood » Sun Aug 02, 2020 12:47 am

The mexican food thread got me thinking about favorite restaurants. We dont eat out often at all. But when we do there are 3 or 4 restaurants we usually consider. Our requirements are:

1. No wait- i dont have time to sit around and wait to be selected for a table. Although avoiding busy times and days of the week can help us avoid this.

2. Must have a salad option and low carb entre options

3. Must be clean.

I guess O charleys, toots and cheddars would be our favorites. What are yours?

We hardly go out to eat. But when we do, we want to go somewhere that serves something we either can't easily make at home, or can't make at all. So, we usually end up at a Korean restaurant. Since moving to middle TN, we haven't found a favorite yet.

I tend to like local family run places better than the big chains and the money I spend straight here in the community. I have several favorites based on the type of food they are.

Corner Pit BBQ, Bryson TN. Only open on Friday and Saturday. Come early, especially on Saturday, since they can run out of the good stuff.

I like Cheddars but I don't think they are quite as good since they sold out. I like Texas Roadhouse and have a couple of locals that I really like. One does Prime Rib on the weekends that is just excellent but is always crowded on weekend.

We go out to eat maybe once every six months.
When we do and we are out of town we go to Longhorns.
If we do and we are in town we go to the local Mexican joint, Lacabana.

Pretty much our two favorites.
Pffft forget that, I'm going fishing.

Korea House on Charlotte. Not fancy, they let their food do the talking.

Favorite restaurant....

Postby Urban_Hunter » Sun Aug 02, 2020 9:45 am

I love Mexican food, I could eat it every night. My favorite one is a cheap, dirty, hole in the wall in White House: De La Paz.

On our birthdays every year the wife and I get a babysitter and go to a nice meal. 90% of the time it is J Alexanders. Unless we are trying something different the rest of the time it’s magiano’s
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure

While we normally go to the one in Fulton the one in Martin is awesome and quite the hangout on the weekends, especially the balcony outside.

I like Mexican a lot. And working off of Nolensville Rd in Nashville there are tons of fantastic authentic hole in the walls places to get it.

In Springfield, The Depot is a fantastic local owned restaurant.

Cracker Barrel. That's the main reason I go on vacation so I can eat there while driving to and from wherever we go. :) Country Boy breakfast if it's morning or a bowl of beans & cornbread if it's later in the day.

Some Mexican stone masons I know say there's a place near aldi and the zoo on nolensville rd that is the best around. Can't remember the name but I want to give it a try.

the best mexican i ever ate was a little restaurant in dunlap. clean food, veggies not cooked to death and no heartburn.

we used to eat at cheddars but something must have happened, its went down hill some, seems not as good.

good pizza joint in redbank. skyway lanes in jville has good pizza, the same pizza craigs used to be in camden until they sold it.

My favorite authentic Mexican in SW TN is Maciel's on Main Street downtown Memphis. Unfortunately, it has been four months since I've eaten there due to COVID and working remotely. It's fresh, authentic and affordable. Service is spectacular as well.
