A year of first.

Pretty much anything you want to talk about!

A year of first.

Postby BigRod » Mon Jan 14, 2019 10:44 am

This is been my first year chasing water fowl, along with my boys first year. Saturday Morning was only the 4th hunt that I have been on, and was actually the first time, I set decoys, and did the calling. At safe light, I let out a few cadences and not 15 minutes later, had a flight of 20-25 cup up and commit to my spread and calls. Guns a blazing I killed my first drake, my neighbor killed his first drake, and my 12 yr old killed his first hen. I had one more hen to the mix a short time later.
Got home cleaned our first ever ducks, and last night I cooked a mean gumbo out of them. Not to bad for a couple of East Tn boys, needless to say we're hooked.

I use to hunt every chance I had up until about 5-6 years ago. Now I hardly ever go. I am starting to miss it bad again so next year I may get back in it.

Jealous! Went on my first hunt this year and after shooting 1.5 boxes of shells, I think i'm still looking to hit/kill my first duck :rotf:

I'd quit now while you still have money and common sense! Once it gets good you go broke and you loose your brains! :super:
