Been looking for a squirrel dog for my 10 year old to have as a companion and hunting partner. I had a pair of fiest growing up, so this is new territory for me. I've never had a Cur before. Just picked up " Charlie" today. She's a 7 week old Original Mountain Cur. It'll be interesting to see who trains who.

Had a little time this evening after doing chores so we took a walk through the woods. We came back with one, but several squirrels made it to den trees before we could get a shot off. He was proud(so was I) as he knocked this one down with my little Henry lever action 22LR. The little pup kept up with us stride for stride. I bet both sleep good tonight.

Congrats ! That's what memories are made from!

Good looking pup& A happy young man.

Well done.

I lost one of the best dogs I ever had one Christmas Eve night, he got out of the pen and got hit by a car.

1/2 Fiest & 1/2 Beagle. RIP Brownie

If she is true Original Mountain Cur then all you have to do is keep her in the woods with squirrels, she will do the rest. Good luck they are amazing animals.

The bond between a boy and his hunting dog is just an amazing thing, those two will be inseparable and make tons of memories! Way to go on raising him right and giving him such an awesome opportunity for memories that he will always cherish.

Hit the woods again and had a decent trip. Knocked 3 down between the 2 of us. The little pup is growing and learning. Maybe she'll make a good dog. I believe I had the most fun of all. It's sure hard to beat spending time in the woods with my youngin. I hope he enjoys it as much as I do.

Haven't updated this in awhile. We've hunted just about any time we get a chance. The dog and my son have both improved greatly. I try and work the little cur at least once a week, more when my schedule allows. My little buddy was under the weather this weekend, so just me and the cur hit the woods. She tree'd three, but one hit a den tree.

I bought my son his first squirrel dog, a feist, when he was 9. Had to put that dog down when the dog was 14 and my son was 23. I still haven't fully gotten over it. My son bought himself another feist and he trees just doesn't get hunted as much as we would like anymore. Its unbelievable to watch your son grow up with a decent squirrel dog. Best times a kid and his dad will ever have in the woods.

Well we didn't squirrel hunt, but instead we coon hunted with the little cur the other night. She treed 2, but we elected not to shoot either. We were just excited she treed something. This is our first Cur dog and I can't say enough about her at the moment. We're all three having a blast I do believe.
