Frontline not working

Postby Snowwolfe » Sun Aug 12, 2018 5:55 pm

Our lab has been on Frontline for just over 2 years. We just noticed he has fleas. What do you recommend we switch to?

We were having the same problem with our little dog. This was recommended by the groomer. Switched to these and no problems since.

Those collars work if you can keep them on the dog. Fleas are real bad this year everywhere.

Another vote for Seresto collars. They are expensive but they work?

I treated the yard and the dog.
Spectracide granules and Telstar took care of ticks, mites, fleas and chiggers in the yard.
That's outstanding performance considering my backyard backs up directly (no buffer zone) to the swamp bottoms of the Wolf River.

This is the real deal. Almost a miracle cure for fleas and ticks.

^^^THIS^^^

Expensive with 3 dogs, but totally worth it. ZERO fleas/ticks in the past 3 years. I have no problems writing the check for it...

Seresto collars on our cats - not a flea in two years.

Will try the collar after watching my dog throw up yesterday after only a half dose of Frontline.

Fleas have developed a resistance to fipronyl (Frontline) ticks not so much. Some fleas have developed resistance to imaclopramide (Advantage and Soresto).

If Soresto collars are working well for your pet, great. Don't be surprised when they fail soon. As of now the oral products are working well, but they will fail in a few years. Any species that can reproduce rapidly (fleas-bacteria) can develop resistances quickly.

Sounds like you don't have much faith in the oral products and/or Soresto collars. What would you recommend?

My dog has been on Nexgard for the last 4 years and I haven't seen the first flea. I changed over fr4om Frontline because it had become ineffective for fleas.

Gonna try Seresto. Costco has the collar for the large breed dogs for $42 so ordered one.

Seresto collars work great I have been using them on my 2 labs the last couple years. Once I get the collar on the dog I use a small wire zip tie to keep the collar from slipping so it wont come off of the dog.
