DIY Feeder Blocks

Postby Bull_TN » Mon Jul 23, 2018 2:19 pm

Does anyone have a good recipe for making your own feeder blocks? I have seen a lot of YouTube videos, and the basics are all similar (something sticky like molasses, brown sugar, etc. and varying grains mixed and compressed together). I am looking for a tried and true recipe to keep me from wasting time experimenting with a bunch of ingredients. I have to believe I can make these at home better and cheaper than the +$20 versions I see at the store.

I have plenty of mineral deposits out, which work way better than trophy rock. I have the holes dug to prove it. My thoughts are when deer have plenty of food, they can be selective. A bag of apples or carrots might work the same, but I was just wanting to fool around with some different stuff for fun.

Maximize the native browse. Don’t have to pay for it or tote it in a sack. Add a couple plots for supplemental forage during the lean months.
