Greening Marketing/Sales and the fleecing of Americans.

Pretty much anything you want to talk about!

Greening Marketing/Sales and the fleecing of Americans.

Here's my rant of 2018, y'all bear with me here.

First, the cordless tool companies rolled out their super-small, compact, lithium-ion batteries. They were about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Everyone bought a few and most folks discarded the old, bulky batteries/tools. Then, the same companies introduced a higher-capacity battery, almost as bulky as the original, but still smaller and 'more compact.' Then we are introduced to the even 'higher-capacity' XR batteries, that were even larger and bulkier than the original ones recently discarded.

Next, we are introduced to the leak-proof fuel cans. The companies produce at least 7 different varieties. Each one fails worse than the prior model, spilling fuel, and taking 5x as long to fill a tank. Lots of them are sold, and then promptly thrown away, because they are such a pain in the ice to use. Then, in 2018, the manufacturers introduce a 'new' and improved fuel can, with a built-in funnel. It's only $50, for pretty much the same fuel can everybody had just a couple of years back, just 5 times the price!

Then comes the newer, 'safer' refrigerant scam. How many times can the EPA outlaw a 'harmful' refrigerant, that just a few years prior to, was "safer"? Everybody's got to swap their HVAC units, refrigerators, freezers, coolers, automobiles, over to the latest refrigerant.

In closing, I believe these examples are all put in place to deprive us of our money. The greening efforts are just that, all about the greenbacks.

I'm fed up with their BS. Newer, safer, greener, improved products are nearly always disappointing gimmicks. That's all I have to say about that.

When I stated in the HVAC busyness R-22 soled for something like $10.00, R-12 was about $5.00 for a 30lb jug. When EPA came along it went through the roof. I don't know how much is tax any more, but at one time none of it went to help the environment but went into the general fund. R-12 had been around since the early 1900's and had been tested over and over then all of a sudden it was bad and had to be banned.

I'm the same way with cell phones. Go try and get a battery replaced in one and Apple will find some way to get out of fixing it. Only option is buy a new one.

My last good gas can is done and i had to buy one of the "green" versions. I filled my mower exactly three times before the nozzle collapsed and spilled about a half gallon all over the environment. Wrestling the nozzle lock spewed gas everytime. Those curly light bulbs are a rip off also imo.

You can buy the old style replacement nozzles and vents. The new “green” nozzles are a disaster. They either spill or explode, launching springs and doodads all over the yard.

We're from the government. We're here to help. LOL.

On a local level I've always thought emissions testing was a scam. Just another way for the gub'ment to take more of your money.

You can buy gas can kits on Amazon that will replace the spout and install an air vent - just like they used to be.

If you have a few minutes to invest in the spout itself (in the new cans), you can gut the spout and then just put a vent hole in the other side of the handle and use a cork or piece of duct tape to close it when not needed.
If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions.

My gas cans are 30 years old and holding up well. I hate to think about buying new ones but may happen at some point in time.

No matter where you go, there you are

Thank you, I'll look into that.
