Vehicle Air Conditioning

Postby ronnycl » Thu Aug 22, 2019 5:45 pm

My truck was not cooling great so I decided to put freon in it. I pull the trigger and hold it down with freon but it is not taking the freon...changed to a new can and same thing; what's up with that. Last year it took it just fine..same setup

Did you have the gauge? You need a gauge to see if it has a correct charge or not. If it's over charged or under charged it wont cool properly

2007 ford f150 -yeah it has a gauge that came with the kit from wal mart. It has some in it but not enough as it should indicate on the gauge for the correct outside temp

Not really imo, most folks don't have the skill set to determine what the pressures mean or the skill to repair , adding Freon/stop leak with a precharged can that has a gauge on it is as simple a repair/band aid as most folks can handle.

Did you change the cabin air filters first?

Is your check engine light on? Some Ford's will not allow the air compressor to turn on if the computer detects an engine misfire. You can run a wire from the battery to the compressor to get the electronic clutch to engage to kick on the compressor. If it is low on freon, then the low pressure switch could be not letting it start, which is one of the fail-safes to protect the compressor.
