Two days ago was a 30 minute HIIT and Hills ride. She mixed in some Tabata at the end. Absolutely destroyed me. Last night was back, chest and shoulders with dumbbells.

Did a 5k outside yesterday after work. Averaged 9:02 per mile. I am working towards my goal of doing a 5k in 25 minutes. Have yet to break 27.

Hitting the weights tonight if the gym is open...

In time like this I wish I had a home gym.

Might use my Trump money to start one

I would love to have a bench and rack but just no room for one. Those foldable units for a garage would do the trick but they sure are pricey!

I've set a PR on Peloton rides the past 4 days in a row; not sure my legs can make it 5 tomorrow!

New Years Day found me and the wife hiking into Stillhouse Hollow. It was a short hike, but with all the good bowl games starting at noon, it was nice to get out.

I had to look this place up when I saw this picture. I swear that waterfall is on my farm in Fentress county! It looks almost identical, I am very fortunate.

I got out Saturday and did a 10k in my best time ever. I averaged an 8:54 pace for the entire run. I did feel like I was cheating though since I was running south of Tunica where there is nothing remotely approaching a hill.

Got out yesterday evening and did a pretty sad 5k.

My real pain is that both of my gyms are closed. Bought a pull up tower to keep doing pull ups and dips until we can get back into the gym. My wife is pretty pissed. We do not have the space for the tower...

My gym is closed so did 120 push-ups 50,40,30 per and 2 sets 50 sit-ups and a minute plank in about 8 minutes in the morning. Ran 3miles in 30 minutes around the condo in the afternoon. Planning to do 8 tuff miles race in St John next year so I got a lot of work to do. It is 8.38 miles and you gain 999 feet.

With the gym closed, I did a 2 mile run and walked a mile or after. Did a few pull ups, dips, and pushups.

Nice thread.

Background: If you exclude high school when I played sports and my metabolism really kicked a$$, I have gone from my healthiest (right before I got married in fall of '17) to my unhealthiest. I was under 200 back in '17, pushing 230 now and it is not good weight!

My goals are a fluid, but be healthy again is the biggest one. I have to shed this beer belly and I guess that will come from a reduction in Body Fat %.
Since school I have always had a fluctuating level of health. I need to find that sweet spot where I am motivated, but not so crazy about it I get burnt out.
I love food and booze so I think in order to be successful long term, I've got to get to a place where I am not miserable but can maintain healthy weights and habits. I may need to go through a miserable stage in order to get the weight down in the beginning, and then go for more of maintenance. I have discovered I like weight training combined with cardio. When I was really kicking ***** I would warm up on the stationary bikes at the Y with a 7 minute warm up ride, then do weights for an hour or so. I would mix in runs with the weights and I learned I much prefer trail running to running on pavement or concrete.

So, to the point: Yesterday I got out to Mammoth Cave and did about 2 miles on their Rail to Trail, about half of that was jogging the rest walking.
Today: 30 minutes upper body weight training with a couple dumb bells, push ups and sit ups in the basement. Planning on a walk this afternoon since the sun is actually out.

2+ miles at MCNP today, jogged a little over a mile of it. Did a section with a little more elevation change today.

I got a 5 miler in but boy did it suck for some reason. I've been a runner long enough to know you gotta have bad days so you can have good days. Just glad to get the junk miles out of the way.

Walked 3ish miles today. Visited a state park only to find the trail we wanted to hike was under water about 100 yards down the trail. Did some good sized hills & took turns pushing the stroller so it felt like a bit more than what it was.

Finally out of excuses getting my mountain bike fixed and tuned. I got in a 12.5 mile ride Saturday. Did an hour on the power tower yesterday for pull-ups, chin-ups, push-ups, mountain climbers, and some curls. Closed out the day with a 5k in a fairly sad time of 28:30. All things considered though - 2 years ago I could not run the whole thing and had to walk a fair bit.

I got in a mile and a half after work yesterday after work before the rain drove me inside. Not enough work. Hopefully, the weather cooperates and the wife's new bike is ready today. We can get out for a ride.
