Still sore from running so today took all the motivation I could muster.

5min row warmup
10 rounds of; 250m row and 10 burpees. Time of 22:30mins.
1/8 mile walk cool down
5 rounds of; 70lb kb swings x5 and 3 strict pull-ups. Time of 3:30mins. That one hurt. I wanted to go 10 rounds but that 70lber was ultra heavy today and my form wasn’t handling it.
30 min stair climb

Well in January I knocked out 505 miles of my 2020 goal on the bike, should hit my goal by end of April at that rate.

I've been doing power zone training on the bike, i'm half way through a 6 week program and can already tell my endurance has jumped considerably.

On top of the cardio I've been keeping at the strength and core training 10-30 minutes per day.

5x5 backsquats @185lb
5x10 thrusters @95lbs
10x5 bent rows @95lbs
5rounds of 70lb kb swingx10 and strict pull ups x3
Time 3:34mins. These are brutal but I was able to increase the swings by 25 and only add 4 secs to my time.

Did an hour of cycling class last night. Today is a rest day, but I am considering doing a couple of miles on the treadmill and doing legs.

Lifted tonight.
5x6 strap assisted pullups, 5x6 bench 90,140, 180, 200, 180
5x6 shoulder press 130
5x6 shrugs 270
5x6 row 270
5x6 tricep extensions 205
5x6 lat pull downs 130

Going heavy for February. It just takes so much longer with resting between sets (90 minutes). On off months, I do 3x10 of more exercises at lighter weights. Lots of dumbbell work for stability. I also do my workouts then as a circuit. I can do 3 times the work in 2/3 the time.

It's been a good couple of days since my last post.

Tuesday made my 49th trip around around the sun. Had some jerk chicken for lunch. Ran 4 miles. It took all I had to keep it under 10 min/mile. Jerk chicken and running do not go good together. Drank a couple good beers while the wife and I grilled out some pizzas. I'm not much of a pizza eater, but since we've been making sourdough crust pizzas and grilling them, that has changed some.

Wednesday, took the day off. Didn't do a darn thing. Rest and recover

Thursday, Ran 4.20 miles at 9:19 min/mile. It's amazing how easy it was to keep a good pace with fresh legs.

Today, I'm just going to do some body weight exercises in the living room. The garage floor is wet from parking a couple wet cars in it and I don't want to have to sweep it out and wait for it to dry.

I was at our inservice for four days last week and even though I did work out twice I didn’t record them but I did a back workout yesterday:

Deadlift: 1x5x245, 1x5x315, 1x5x365, 1x1x415

Bent rows: 3x10x95

Pull backs: 1x10x100, 2x10x130

Straight arm push downs: 3x10x125

Pull downs: 1x10x200, 2x10x230

Straight leg deadlift: 3x10x155

Good day for a run. I was initially going to hit the treadmill when I saw 15 mph winds, but seeing that it was 53 degrees at 8:30, I decided to hit the streets. Longest distance I have ever run! Ran the first 8 without stopping or walking

Saturday I checked one of my goals off my list for 2020 and rode 50.25 miles in one session; 2 hours and 40 minutes. Surprisingly I still had gas in the tank but my quads were on fire and done.

Your like Forest Gump of the Peloton world

The last week I’ve been extremely motivated to lift heavy, so I’ve followed that urge. My backsquats increased by 10lbs in one session so I’m rolling with it. I did have to up my protein intake and backed off in endurance a little.

Did chest, arms, and back last night. I am trying a rotation on my lifting. I do one month heavy 5 sets of 5-6 reps. The next month I do lower weight (like my warm-up weight) for a single set. I try to do 30-50 reps in that one set though, and I do the entire motion very slowly. Think 10 seconds per rep. The last month I go to 3 sets or 10-12 reps with around 60-70% of my single rep max.

I think I have a tear in my right rotator cuff (I am right handed, and my right arm is my draw arm). Lifting heavy really aggravates it, but I like lifting heavy. The 2 months of going lighter helps it heal and keeps me in the gym.

Tonight is a 60 minute cycling class. I always look forward to this session! Riding the bike seems to be what fits my God-given abilities the best.

So far this year I've only done 700 miles

I've been sticking with low weight high rep strength training

All day Saturday and part of the day on Sunday were spent in the woods. I'm learning a lot about deer travel patterns when there isn't much topography. That's something I'm not used to. Monday was a pretty easy day; 45 push-ups and 9 planks, done throughout the day in sets of 15 and 3. Today was 4.03 miles running in 36:45 (9:07 pace). I can tell I'm getting much more efficient. It's time to start doing some trail running on the weekends. I'm thinking about running the 4 mile loop at Meriwether Lewis National Monument this Saturday.

Have to work late tonight, so I am sneaking out in about 30 minutes to hit the treadmill for a 30 minute run.

Did around 15 miles looking for sheds and squirrels this weekend. No squirrels but our group did find some antlers.
