Reached another goal-weighed in at 169 today. I never thought I'd see 180 again, much less 170. That's 74 lbs from my peak in 2009. The great thing is it's actually easy to maintain now and I'm thrilled. Feeling great.

Awesome TX! What is your current protocol or "diet"? Like a typical work day.

What did you do today?

Postby TX300mag » Sat Jan 28, 2017 2:31 pm

Meat: I choose fattier cuts of meat (thighs rather than breast, butt rather than loin, bacon (mostly jowl), sausage, pork bellies (especially before eating venison to add fat)

LOTS of egg yolks. Even in coffee.

Lots of green vegetables: lettuce, arugula, brocolli, green beans, etc. lots of cauliflower and turnips, mushrooms

Fruit: peppers, onions, LOADS of avocados-usually one before or with each meal

Dairy: cheese, butter, heavy cream

Buckets of coffee. Normally a bulletproof coffee every day

No sugar, no grains, no starch basically. I'd lie if I said I never have artificial sweetener, but I'm ditched them other than the occasion treat.

I intermittent fast regularly, I try to fit in a couple of days each week. As far as work, I work a 48 hour shift followed by four days off. More often than not I find myself fasting for 36 or even 60 hours since it's simpler to not have to carry food, plan meals, cook, and stop to eat. It's much simpler to fast there than at home.

I also try to fact for a more extended time every few weeks. I'm on my third fast of five days are longer (actually 9, will break at 10 tomorrow night). I cut out coffee, tea, and broth on Tuesday night and believe it or not it got easier. I feel great and have zero hunger.

I don't track calories now, but I bet my macros are about 80% fat, 15% protein, and 5% carbs.

I'm with you on the daily avocados. Not sure if it's the the combination of fat and fiber or what, but they taste great and "feel" healthy.

Sounds delicious!
Personally I "need" fruits. Apples, grapes, etc. other than that I eat similar to you.

So I lurk around on this board quite a bit trying to pick up diet tips mainly. The steel cut oats in a crock pot are awesome!

Can someone tell me about the butter in the coffee? I cut out extra sugar in my coffee a while back, but still add creamer which I know has some sugar in it. My wife says it's not just plain butter in your coffee, but some special kind and other additives besides butter. We first saw it on TV on that weight loss show that had the different kind of diet plans on it with the "wild diet".

I played football in college as an offensive lineman and graduated at 315. I lost 80 pounds in a year down to 235, but that was 10 years ago. I was back up to 280 just after Christmas this year. I decided that was enough and had to come up with a plan. I found that I have to get up between 4 and 5 in the morning and hit the gym before work and our 15 month old son wakes up, or I won't go because I'm too tired at night by the time he goes to bed. Was 265 this morning and hope to be at least down to around 240 by this fall.

The butter in the coffee is just a way to add some more fat to your diet. It makes your coffee a "meal." It's origins are in the Paleo and Keto diets where you're not getting a lot of carbs and need additional fat intake to compensate for energy depends.

Most people use grass fed butter such as Kerrygold because it's higher in Omega 6s. I keep a stash of Kerrygold for direct application such as coffee and sweet potatoes but still use regular butter for cooking.

Like Poser, I use Kerrygold butter as well but my personal goal is Omega 3 since I get way too much Omega 6 from other sources and am not balanced very well.

The other main ingredient is either coconut or MCT oil. MCTs are extracted from coconut and palm oil. Medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) are processed quickly by the liver and converted to energy rather than stored as fat. I also use it as a vehicle to take collagen and occasionally colostrum.

When I drink my butter coffee it's normally my only meal until supper as it is very satiating.

Search bullet proof coffee for tons of info on it.

What did you do today?

Postby AT Hiker » Wed Feb 22, 2017 2:09 pm

Finally got two 45's on the bar! Form is not 100%, need new shoes for sure.

Also knocked out 5 sets of 10rep 95lb thrusters. I was struggling to get 50 in ten sets, today was a good day.

Missed the gym for a little over a week due to a stupid sinus infection. Monday I did squats and by butt is killing me, instead of easing back into them I went all out...now I'm paying for it.
Today was conditioning; 100 KB swings @30lbs, 100 burpees and 50 pull-ups. 14:30mins. 30min max stair climb. Then my wife and daughter went on a 3 mile woods walk to a local park. Man the weather was enjoyable today.
