How do you prep the fields in the weeks leading up to the hunt?

as soon as fields have matured, I do a late summer burndown usually between August 10th - 15th

this will hopefully get any weeds or grasses that have gotten by us.

around the 20th of August I will bush hog a 10 wide strip around perimeter of fields and "1" 10 foot strip down the middle of each field.

if everyone in our group had a dog to retrieve the birds then I would skip the strip down the middle of each field
