I suppose a lease is out of the question. You usually don't want to trade these models in. You usually end up with less than half of what you've invested over the years....and when you trade, you'll find out the new model has unforseen issues. Best just invest a little money and time. Strip this one down to bare essentials, pay keen attention to every little detail and refurb the one you have. The Catman approach will result in a like new "climber".

Also, take a look at the thermostat....you never want these to always run cold. Tune this model up. I've also heard that getting one of these models to run hot now and then may actually improve performance....and sometimes that happens naturally as they get to the 40 year mark. DO NOT install an "Antique" plate....that'll result in a loss of torque for sure.

Original equipment or are there any aftermarket pieces? Its amazing what a $5000 set of headlights will do for one that model.

You know what they say about those used models
You are just taking on somebody else's problems
One thing about those older models is it they do usually have bigger trunks
