Bear check-in?

Postby CATCHDAWG » Sun Sep 13, 2020 12:01 pm

Am I missing something? Bears have ALWAYS been required to be physically checked in at a designated bear checking station. I cannot find it anywhere in the hunting guide that says it is still required?

This is the language in the Manner and Means Proclamation:

3) Unless special hunt regulations apply, all harvested bears must be checked in at any approved
checking station, TWRA website, or by TWRA mobile application. Bears may be whole or field
dressed, but must weigh 75 pounds or greater when possessed afield. If bears are quartered
or boned out, the total of the meat, hide, etc., must equal or exceed 75 pounds

It appears to be changed, but is not listed in the changes for this year. It is probably worth a call to your regional office to make sure everyone is on the same page.
