Would like your opinion.

I've been thinking about adding a lever action to my gun cabinet. I was thinking maybe in .45 Long Colt just to have something different but also considering .35 Rem. which would y'all prefer?

I have both. The fun factor seems to be greater with the 45lc.
But it has always been the 35 that goes with me into the woods

I like both calibers, but I would go with the 35 Rem. With the new Leveloution ammo, you can make the 35 a 200 yard round with a good scope and practice. Good Deer and Black Bear round. If you reload you can download to make it a good round for varments. Really its up to you. Good arguments for both rounds.

Would like your opinion.

35 rem.

My 336 35 rem would be the last gun I’d relinquish if forced due to circumstance... LONG after wife and kids

Leverevolution makes this gun TRULY unbelievable.

Don't overlook the 30.30 using LeverRevolution. >200yd gun.

Hard to argue against either one. A few questions though. What is the purpone of this gun? Do you already have a .45 colt gun

Round wise maybe a 44mag or 30/30 but any of those 4 (45lc, 35rem, 44mag, 30-30 would be great). Ammo cost wise I think I would lean towards the 30-30

Any would do... The 45 colt is a good one but I've always wanted an old Marlin or Winchester in 38-55.

.45LC would be my choice. Just picked up a winchester 1892 in 32-20 this past weekend at the gun show in Parsons. Hope you find
what you're looking for.

35 Rem would be my choice out of those rounds. I might go with a 30/30 though.

I will use it for deer in the hardwood ridges around here at home. No I've never owned a .45 of any kind. Just thought a Long Colt would be a pretty good round for the distances I would shooting here, about 70 yards would be the longest. My cousin has a Marlin 336 in.35 Rem that I like. To be honest, I probably won't use it very often. I just got an itch for a lever gun.

A .45 Colt pistol and lever gun combo is a mighty handy outfit to have. I have plenty of confidence in a good handload with a Keith type bullet or the Leverevolution ammo from Hornady.

I'm always looking at lever guns because I have a pet project in mind. I have always wanted a Marlin in .38-55 but they are scarce and pricey. But I know a place that will rebore a .30-30 to .35-30 or .38-55. So when I luck up on a great deal on one off it goes.
.35-30 is an oddball. It was never factory loaded but was a good way in the old days to get more life from a shot or rusted out .30-30 or .32 Win Spl. I encountered one that my buddy got at an estate auction back in the 80s. It was a Winchester 94 that said .30-30 on the barrel. It shot great with the 2 boxes of ammo that came with it. One day he calls me up with a problem. He got a new box of ammo and couldn't group at all and his case necks were splitting. I told him to bring it over. I looked at the cases and told him I thought it had been rebored. Measured the cases and got out my wildcat cartridges of the world book. Sure enough it was 35-30. He wasn't interested in reloading and I wish I'd bought the old gun off him. He wound up trading it in at a gun shop for a .30-30. He did take the old brass and showed them to the shop owner and everyone was happy. It's not one I'd rebore to but I might buy the next one I see.

My son lost the first deer he ever shot with a 45l rifle, haven't looked at the ballistics but would bet they are pretty low,44 mag if your wanting a pistol round and the 35 is great, the 45/70 tops ,lot of choices

I’ve kind of wanted a 45-70 or 35rem just to have one. I have a 30-30 and is my favorite deer rifle. If I got a bigger caliber it would be more for fun than anything. 30-30 is more than enough to kill any whitetail

Always thought a Henry lever-action .22 would be a cool gun to have.
