Had 2 males fighting today. Never seen either one drink. After the fight I guess they left. Didn't see them again.

Just took this picture. Looks like a mating pair.

I saw one last week also. Buy I was at a meeting back in December and Tn has several locations that have winter populations. They are being banded for mark/recapture programs. More information at http://www.hummingbirdresearch.net/p1.html

Just a helpful hint, big glass feeders produce more hummers than plastic.

Well they are here in numbers. Suddenly on Wed I had to fill 3 large feeders that were full early that morning. I guess there were more on the 3 feeders at 6:00 pm than I have ever seen. At least 20-25 on each feeder or swarming around it.
I put out some more last night---the cold front moved thru about dark and not a lot today, Go figure.

I'm up to 7 or 8 birds now. Usually it'll just increase a little bit at a time until the fall migration. End up with 50 or so before they take off.

Fairchaser and I were turkey hunting this past Saturday and we watched one feed on a flowering bush for a few minutes and then later that morning 2 almost hit me in the face when they buzzed past us fighting.

Bumped up again, seemingly overnight. Got somewhere around 12-14. Gets hard to count them at this point.
