Shumard oaks dropping a buncha green ones in one spot I checked yesterday. I think the squirrels had knocked a lot of them out. Haven't seen ripe acorns yet, but some trees have a good crop this year, both red and white.

I think it will be a good one. Not all trees are loaded, some have hardly any acorns. But I've marked a few that I will definitely revisit in mid October.

Yep. I'm loving the fact only certain white oaks appear to have a crop

Most white oaks on ground now are just those knocked out by high winds and storms, they normally wont Fall consistently in this area until early October. I to think Mast crop here is going to be pretty good, fruit trees are loaded.

I think the late frost killed all of my persimmons. I have 4 trees in my back field that produce a massive amount each year and none of them have a single persimmon on them. Our farm in W TN has a tree that is covered in them. Why on earth would this be the case? Are there that many different types?

I think the frost hit worse in some areas than others. It got down to 28 one night in April here but it didn't hurt the acorn or persimmon production. It did seem to hurt a lot of sycamore trees for some reason.

Starting to find some white oaks on the ground. deer and squirrels are feeding on em in Scott County. Can't find hickory nuts anywhere this year, they were everywhere last year. When we get a good wind, they'll be more on the ground. Hope this happens a week before season.

I walked under a bunch of hickory trees Saturday morning and not a nut on the ground or in the trees that I could find. Killed most of my squirrels out of oaks, but they were mainly checking/throwing green acorns out of the trees. I did find some persimmons and muscadines. SW TN.
