So what about that deer that was killed there. wasn't hit by a truck or something... I think AT knows the story behind it... I'm just kidding. :poke: :poke:

I hardly ever come in the FC threads, because i don't hunt there, but i never miss the chance to check out a locked thread to see what happened.

So is the big buck story going to get an article written about it in a future issue of the Tennessee Sportsman magazine?

I guess that is why the 6 people that know the truth about it are keeping it hush hush!

The fort is 100,000 acres and big deer are in every zone. That buck could have been any one of the big bucks that I saw last year driving into 27 and 48, or the one my son could never find in his scope in O4. Both bucks in 27 and 48 were giants just crossing back into the bomb zones.

For a civilian, the place is a crapshoot when you live 4 hours away. But, it is the best QDM available to me. I already have $$500 invested in two adult licenses, an 8 hour round trip drive, and 40000 Marriott points holding my two nights for the full moon rutcation with the kids! If we are lucky, it is going to get more complicated with the CWD regs.

I was able to get out Monday after work. This is my first year bow hunting and first year at Campbell. I only moved here a few months ago. Had one older Doe hanging out down the firebreak about 70yds, when a smaller doe came up behind me, at about 15. Took a shot at the younger doe, arrow was high and skimmed her back (I’m 90% sure it hit a branch ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ). She ran down the firebreak and stoped at 46 yards. Let another arrow fly and double lunged her, she made it 25 yards before expiring. First bow harvest and first on Campbell, it was a small doe. Had one guy at the checkin station with a big 175lb 8pt buck though same night.

Congrats on the doe. Nice job sealing the deal your first year bow hunting. Any idea what the year-to-date harvest total is out there?

Currently I don't, I know the morning after opening day is when I went to get my permit, and by that point they had 35 already, but that was a few weeks back now. Sorry.

You have a harvest number on your kill tag that represents the number checked in. Do you remember yours?

They should create an "earn a spot" program. For every doe a civilian kills he earns a spot in the zone of choice.

As a civilian I would not want this. Plenty of slots open right now. You don’t even hunt there so why are you suggesting this?

Kill count is at 260 as of about 1700 today. I heard a lot of shooting in the 20, 09a and 10 areas so there should be 10 or so more tonight at least. That is all and Michael calm down. lol... :moon:
